Teaching
Christians believe that it is possible to know God through Jesus Christ, and that He speaks through the Bible. Consequently MOBC places great importance on reading, understanding and applying the Bible to life. We want to learn more about Jesus Christ through our study of the Bible and expect God to transform us by the truth we find there.
Of course, the Bible can be difficult to understand and so MOBC aims to help in the following ways:
All the Sunday celebrations include carefully prepared talks that explain the Bible and apply its message to daily life. To check out which of these talks are available for download click here.
All our Growth Groups give time to studying the Bible and discussing what it means.
A mentoring program where individuals can receive help and encouragement from a more mature Christian.
An on-site Resource Centre stocked with new release Christian books, DVDs and Christian magazines, all of which are available for borrowing during office hours.
A small Book Shop offering a range of the latest titles for sale and which is open before and after the Sunday celebrations.
The annual Mortdale-Oatley Bible Convention or MOBiC, as it is affectionately known, offers convention style Bible preaching over the course of a weekend. Past contributors include Robert Amess, Dr Ross Clifford, and Bishop Frank Retief.
Specially designed courses including The Marriage Preparation Course, The Marriage Course, and 1,2,3 Magic Parenting.
A ladies only discussion group called ‘The Review’ which focuses on a thought-provoking magazine article or Christian book each time it meets. The material to be discussed is made available in advance and then the hard work is done over morning tea.
