Living with AD/HD
On Wednesday 1st July MOBC hosted a Parent Education Evening on the subject of ’Understanding and Living with ADD/ADHD’.
During the evening Helen Tsamoulos, who is a registered psychologist and a Member of the Australian Psychological Society, spoke about what ADHD is and how to understand the symptoms, as well as highlighting strategies for supporting those who have it.
Around 3% of children living in Australia have ADHD, and 1% the less visible ADD. If undiagnosed and untreated, both conditions can seriously interfere with learning and social development. In adulthood ADHD can disrupt relationships and employment, resulting in greater risk of anxiety, depression and drug or alcohol abuse.
